Steampunk Desktop Theme

Found this screen capture from way back.  Maybe its time to bring back the Steampunk theme!

‘Abyss’ Dreamscene Live Wallpaper

**Edit** The video seems not to be working directely from Youtube, but it does work from the site vistahd.org

After posting the demonstration of my Ubuntu set up someone asked me where I got the live wallpaper shown in it. The answer is HERE.  There’s a few color variations available and some other dreamscenes, but this was the only one I liked enough to use.  Overlaying the video over the bonsai wallpaper, was only possible thanks to Ubuntu, if you want to know how to do that let me know and I’ll try to remember…

My GUI on Ubuntu – Video

A while back I made this video showing off my portable lunix Ubuntu set up.  I love the freedom and flexibility in the interface.  Its a shame they had to go and change it.  I’m probably going to make the switch to linux Mint eventually here.

Serenity Wallpaper, from Ubuntu

Serenity_Enchanted_by_sirpecangum

This one came with one of the Ubuntu Linux distro’s, Maverick Meerkat I think. I love the composition, and vibrant red. In some ways it reminds me of the Easter story.

Here’s a super nerdy post for all you techies out there.

I’m really a novice at all of this and there may have been better methods (which I would love to hear) and there may also be problems I have not yet encountered that others may be able to predict.

Essentially what I have done is created a personal, portable, operating system configuration on a portable hard drive. It allows me to work in a consistent environment with all of my personal files, software, and settings by plugging into any computer that will boot from a USB. In addition the system is designed to be a portable clone of both my work computer (on which which I cannot install Ubuntu due to policy) and my home computer and have all of the files from both available to me wherever I am.
