I like steampunk, but you won’t ever catch me wearing a bowler hat and monocle around town. I’m not even one or fashion really, just ask my wife. But I did find myself in need of a new watch the other day and I figured, why not something with a little flare?
I hopped on Amazon.com and looked for some steampunk watches, but didn’t really find what I was looking for. I did find a nice affordable skeleton watch from Hong Kong, but the band was narrow and killed the steampunk effect. Looking into the reviews I found that the band was reported to be cheap, flimsy, and uncomfortable.
Then a stroke of brilliance hit me. If the band is all that bad why not just replace it immediately? Another quick Amazon search turned up some excellent watch bands at reasonable prices. I selected something I thought was appropriate and order both the watch and replacement band.
Put together the two look quite nice. The watch is a little taller than I would like, it gets caught on things occasionally. But for a cheap knock-off I can’t complain. The watch band is excellent quality and will probably outlast the watch itself. All told I spend around $30, and got a fun watch out of it. Not bad if you ask me.
